CONTINUING IN 2023 - YOUR GIFT GOES TWICE AS FAR!
The Toms River Seaport Society is pleased to announce that your gift goes twice as far thanks to an anonymous donor matching all contributions continued through 2023!
Please join us as we mark our 47th anniversary with our continued dedication to the preservation of the rich maritime heritage of the Toms River, Barnegat Bay and surrounding waters.
The past two years, the Society was pleased to see more visitors return to the museum after pandemic challenges and hosted its 44th Annual Vintage Boat Festival in Huddy Park in July. Weekly readership of Ocean County 100 Years Ago This Week continues to increase with current numbers at 6,000.
The 2022 Duckboat Worlds in August proved to be very rewarding as the Society provided three pristine duckboats with our DeLux Duck placing 7th of 71 competitors.
In the 2022, the Society expanded its boat collection to include early fiberglass boats with the donation of a 1953 Cape Cod Mercury sailboat. Plans continue to digitize historic files and photos in the Society’s archives while its extensive maritime library of over 1,000 volumes is available to members and researchers.
The Society also partnered with the John F. Peto Studio Museum for a special program entitled, Double Trouble: Sawmill to Seashore. This autumn, the Society, with Save Barnegat Bay, presented programs to Toms River Intermediate Schools classes on the joys and benefits of growing up “under sail.” In the shop, Sea Scouts Ship 6 continues to make progress on its boatbuilding project thanks to a generous grant from the Sailing Foundation of Barnegat Bay. Their boat is expected to launch Summer 2023.
These projects and more would not be possible without your financial support. Please consider a donation in response to this appeal. It will be sincerely appreciated.
Another option to help ensure the future of the museum is to consider a planned gift - real estate, cash, publicly traded stock or naming Toms River Seaport Society in your will, bequeathing a set dollar amount or percentage of the estate.
